Unlocking the power of Direct Payments for the global majority

Home 9 Event 9 Unlocking the power of Direct Payments for the global majority

Discover how Direct Payments can empower the global majority with choice, control, safety, dignity, and culturally-appropriate support.

This session is about real people, real stories, and how Direct Payments can transform lives within global majority communities.

Global majority refers to people who are black, Asian, brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and/or have been racialised as ‘ethnic minorities’, and represent approximately 80% of the world’s population.

We’ll hear from those with lived experience, explore the challenges and triumphs, and show how culturally nuanced care can create greater choice, control, safety, and dignity.

Come along and be part of the journey – see how you can support someone to access or use direct payments in ways that truly make a difference. Together, we’ll celebrate strengths, tackle hurdles, and inspire new possibilities for empowerment and meaningful care.

This event is part of the Reinvigorating Direct Payments event series, run in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care.
