Website helps public see how local social services are performing

Published: 19 Nov, 2013

Adult Social Care Outcomes, a new website, will help people examine how their local social services departments are performing.

Developed jointly by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) and the Department of Health, the website allows people to see how local councils score against criteria set for social service delivery by the Department of Health in its Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF).

The website enables people to visual local data on topics such as how satisfied people are with social services, ‘quality of life’ scores, how well carers feel they are included in discussions about the person they care for, delays on transfers of care from hospitals and more. People will be able to see how their local authority compares with similar councils and the national average.

The website should be of interest to people who use adult social care services, carers, the general public, local Healthwatch and other representative groups, voluntary and community organisations and social care professionals.

Chair of the HSCIC, Kingsley Manning said: “The HSCIC collates and publishes a huge variety of data on health and social care and we are determined to make it accessible to as many different people as possible.

“We hope that this website will prove another step forward in putting the power of information into the public’s hands, allow them better to understand how their local council is performing on social care.”

This collection of data was used by Think Local Act Personal as part of the work we have done with the Towards Excellence in Adult Social Care partnership.
