The Department of Health and Social Care is running a survey to better understand the experiences of people who arrange and pay for their own care and support, often referred to as self-funders.

They are looking to hear from people who have looked for self-funded care for themselves or for someone else. The survey asks about:
- The support people received when identifying the care they needed
- What information and advice helped them make decisions
- What influenced the choice of care provider
- What could improve the experience of arranging care
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and closes at 5pm on Sunday 29th March 2026 (update).

At Think Local Act Personal, we believe everyone should have choice and control over their care and support, including people who arrange and pay for their own care. Many self-funders face challenges such as finding clear information, navigating costs, and planning support that reflects what matters to them.
Learning more about people’s experiences will help build a better understanding of where change is needed so that care and support works better for everyone.
If you work with people who fund their own care, please help by sharing this survey with your networks so as many people as possible are heard.
