Nottinghamshire County Council is developing a new plan for adult social care, and they want to hear from people who draw on care and support, and family and friend carers.
To help shape the plan, we are working with Nottinghamshire on a survey and a series of ‘Big Conversation’ listening events across the county, as well as smaller, tailored sessions to ensure voices that are often missing from consultations are heard. These will be safe, welcoming spaces where people can share their experiences and ideas.
This follows on from work in 2023 that led to a co-produced Local Account for adult social care in the county. Now it’s time to check whether progress is being made and to ask if anything needs to change.
Why this matters
At TLAP, we believe good social care starts with listening to people. Nottinghamshire has used Making It Real to set its Local Account priorities, and this next stage is about understanding how well things are working in practice. The project is not just about producing a strategy; Nottinghamshire also wants to embed co-production and build meaningful relationships with local people.
What’s happening
Throughout September, people can share their experiences in two ways:
Complete a survey:
- Survey for people who draw on social care
- Easy Read survey for people who draw on social care
- Survey for family and friend carers
Surveys are open until the end of September 2025.

If you need information in a different format, or support to take part, please email nccbigconversation@nottscc.gov.uk or contact Nottinghamshire’s Customer Service Centre.
What will happen next
Feedback from the surveys and events will be analysed and published in a report. This will help shape Nottinghamshire’s new Adult Social Care Strategy, update the Local Account, and provide lessons on how to embed co-production.
For TLAP, this is part of our wider commitment to supporting local areas to embed co-production in practice and to make sure people’s voices shape care and support. We’ll share what we learn from working with Nottinghamshire County Council.
