Enterprise for all – A Practical Guide for enterprising people

Published: 3 Oct, 2011

Community Catalysts, are a social enterprise set up by NAAPS UK, a charity and membership organisation that supports providers of very small (micro) family and community based support and care services, helping them to get the advice, help and representation they need. NAAPS UK is a member of the Think Local, Act Personal.

The underpinning principle of this work is that people who need some support to live their lives have gifts and assets that they can use to benefit other people in their community. The aim is to enable people with care and support needs to use their experiences to run a social care enterprise and that people who use services should have more choice and the opportunity to be supported by organisations run by people who themselves use services.

This report builds on the earlier work by Community Catalysts starting back in 2009 when they produced a guide, Supporting Micro Market Development, which is a practical guide for Local.

Authoritiesabout working with micro-providers. In 2010 they produced a practical guide for micro-providers called Setting up a Micro Care or Support Serviceand is a useful reference for anyone thinking of setting up a micro-care or support service.

Enterprise for all – A Practical Guide for enterprising people provides general, accessible information and tries to address some of the specific issues faced by people with an illness or disability thinking about establishing their own service.
