Commissioning Exchange – commissioning for now and for the future

Published: 8 Sep, 2025

This autumn, commissioners in adult social care have the chance to come together at a series of free, in-person Commissioning Exchange Roadshows hosted by Skills for Care.

These regional events are a space for commissioners to:

  • Share current commissioning challenges and solutions with peers
  • Start conversations with service providers and people who draw on care and support
  • Contribute to live insight gathering to shape support available to commissioners
  • Build connections and take away practical ideas to use in your area

The programme has been informed by the Skills for Care National Commissioner Reference Group and is part of a wider effort to strengthen commissioning practice across the country.

Why attend?

Commissioning today faces significant pressures but also opportunities for change. These roadshows provide a unique chance for commissioners in local authorities, integrated care systems, or other settings to step out of the day-to-day, connect with people, and explore what matters in their region.

As part of TLAP’s ongoing partnership with Skills for Care, we are also supporting a Co-production in Commissioning Masterclass and Peer Learning event. This will help commissioners embed co-production in their work, ensuring commissioning is shaped with people who draw on care and support.

Where and when

The roadshows will run across six regions in September and October:

  • Eastern – Peterborough, 9 September
  • Midlands – Birmingham, 15 September
  • North West – Warrington, 25 September
  • South West – Exeter, 2 October
  • Yorkshire & North East – Sunderland, 16 October
  • London, South East & East – Surrey, 22 October

Each roadshow is free to attend and open to commissioners in adult social care. Registering will also give you access to the Skills for Care Commissioner Peer Network.
