Reablement

Definition

A way of helping people to continue to live in the place they call home and to do the things that matter to them, by giving them the opportunity to relearn or regain some of the skills for daily living that may have been lost as a result of illness, accident or impairment.

Reablement is similar to rehabilitation, which helps people recover from physical or mental illness.

Local councils must provide reablement support free of charge for up to 6 weeks for all adults, whether or not they have eligible needs for ongoing care and support.
