Definition
An organisation that provides advice and guidance to improve health and social care in England and Wales. It looks at all the evidence on what works and what doesn’t and how much it costs, and advises on what treatment and care should be offered to people. It doesn’t have the power to insist that its guidance is followed in local areas.
