How we work

The experiences of people who draw on care and support guide everything we do.

Co-production is a vital part of this. No decision about people should ever be made without them.

How we work

The experiences of people who draw on care and support guide everything we do.

Co-production is a vital part of this. No decision about people should ever be made without them.

Who we work with

We work with a wide range of people who draw on care and support. This includes members of the National Co-production Advisory Group (NCAG), as well as other people and co-production groups for specific projects.

Ways of working

People who draw upon care and support, family members, and carers play a key role in overseeing our work and setting our direction as an organisation. This involves having NCAG members on our Board, joining Executive Team meetings, and in other key decisions such as Quarterly Review and Governance meetings.

Alongside this, our strategy is made up of workstreams, and each of these has its own Project Review Team. These teams are made up of a range of members of the TLAP team and members of NCAG, and meet regularly to discuss what needs to be done, how to do it, and what progress is being made.

As projects develop, the Project Review Teams may suggest other ways that we could involve people with lived experience on a particular task. This can be done in a number of ways, from setting up co-design groups, co-production workshops, or ‘Heads Together’ sessions to agree a proposed way forward.

Valuing people’s experiences

People who draw on care and support, family members, and carers all make vital contributions to the work we do. We value this highly, and have policies in place that clearly explain how we pay people for their time and cover expenses. We also provide ways for NCAG members to further build on their existing skills and develop new ones.
