The Duty of Candour - the response from the adult social care sector

Adult social care providers already work within a well-developed framework for incident reporting. However in response to the Duty of Candour which the health sector introduced in the wake of the Mid-Staffordshire Public Inquiry, TLAP carried out a consultation and gave a response.

The Duty of Candour - an Adult Social Care Perspective covers two main themes:

• Describes the views of service providers and people using adult social care to the new statute
• Pays particular focus to the 'harm threshold' which is the level of harm at which the requirements of the statutory Duty of Candour comes into force. It goes on to discuss whether a new reporting system would be required to monitor the new duty.
