Response to Newsnight story on home care neglect

A statement from Think Local Act Personal Director Sam Bennett following yesterday's Newsnight report highlighting neglect in home care:

"The distressing footage shown last night clearly highlights the need to urgently address poor practice and redouble efforts in striving for good quality care for all. We must remember the vast majority of care workers do great work but it's clear much more can be done. Part of the solution to the challenges identified in last night's programme is empowering people to have choice and control over their support and building stronger community networks. These are goals that TLAP's partners are working tirelessly at a national level to achieve. A number of councils and providers of care are already using our Making it Real markers of progress to improve the way services are commissioned and delivered to ensure there's a strong focus on improving people's lives. We welcome and support the government's challenge to seek out innovative practice so the rest can learn from the best."
