Personal Budgets - New Rethink Guides

Added on

Personal budgets give people greater control over the support they get. People with a mental health condition can use a personal budget, which is money from the local authority (or council), to pay for social care services and support. Rethink have developed practical guides, specifically for people using mental health services, carers and mental health workers.

The new set of research based guides were developed by speaking to people with direct experience of using personal budgets, or supporting a person to use them.

The free guides are available to download on the Rethink website, they include:

  • Is a Personal Budget right for you?
  • Planning your support - how to use your Personal Budget
  • Personal Budgets - Checking your progress
  • Personal Budgets in mental health - a guide for families and carers
  • Considering a Personal Budget
  • Thinking about outcomes
  • Supporting your client through the process
