New adult social films to encourage independent living

Added on

Barnsley Council have developed and published an online series of short films about adult social care services and personal budgets. The films, available to view on their You Tube (opens new window) channel, explain what is available locally for people who need support to live independently, because they are older, have a disability, a health condition or are otherwise vulnerable.

The films take the viewer through the process of having an assessment, completing a support plan, having a direct payment and the different ways to arrange their care. There are case studies from people who use services, their carers and PAs speaking candidly about how direct payments can help people to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Besides You Tube, the films can be accessed via their adult social care, health and wellbeing public website (opens new window)
