Developing the power of strong inclusive communities

Added on

Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) is developing an initiative to support Health and Well-Being (HWB) Boards wishing to help local communities maximise the inclusion and contribution of older and disabled people. Whilst also ensuring a reduction in the demand for acute and on-going health and social care support. This follows TLAPs work on building community capacity as a key way to improve people's health, well-being, independence and quality of life.

We are working with our partners to develop a practical framework and offer of support that we will make available to HWB boards from the autumn. We are keen to work with a small number enthusiastic local sites and share what we learn more widely.

We are holding a workshop of experts and HWB representatives on 9 July 2013 at the Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre in London. It will be chaired by John Wilderspin, former Department of Health Director of Health and Well-Being, and aims to share information about a draft framework and support offer, as well as steer and shape the forthcoming programme.

We have some places available for members of HWB boards, local CCGs and council officers working with Boards. Those HWB boards attending may be among the first to be supported by the programme.
