Care and support funding reform consultation

Added on

The Government's changes to what and how people pay for their care will provide people with the peace of mind that they will get the care they need, and that they and their home will be protected from huge costs if they develop very complex care needs. The consultation hopes to ensure that the changes to paying for care costs happen in the fairest and most sustainable way possible.

The Government has provided £335m to local authorities in 2015/16 to cover the costs of implementation of the cap and the requirement to offer deferred payments for residential care. This includes funds that will enable local authorities to begin assessing people's needs for care and support around six months before introduction of the cap.

The Department of Health, Local Government Association and Association of Directors of Adult Social Services have committed to work in partnership on a joint programme to ensure successful and sustainable delivery of these reforms.

The consulatation closes on 25th October 2013, to take part visit the Department of Health website. For more information on the changes to care funding read the Department of Health Press release.
